Since the tml only registers 6 skins (3 live,3 dead) you have to modify it yourself to include data for the new skins.

Originally it will come with three dead skins and three live skins, alternating between dead and live skins. Each skin (both live and dead) will have its own header (unique both to the skin file size and to the dinosaurs' species).

If you want to add more dinosaurs, you'll have to add (dead first, then live) the headers from the dinosaur you want to clone or modify, and then add the appropriate skin files. You'll have to change the numbers at the top indicating how many skins there are in total, and the number at the bottom before the footer indicating the number of species/dinosaurs. The footer itself will have to be extended to as many as you need.

I hope this isn't considered reviving a dead topic (2 or 3 months old) but I am also having problems with what that other guy (sorry, lazy today) had problems with. I have everything set up until the part where you tell us to enter something into the footer. I don't know where I paste the code into the hex editor, so I'm getting frustrated and confused. :x3:

Sorry it's taken so long to respond, I've been a bit busy and just it's been crazy.

So, if you look on the column to the right (on your hex editor) you should see something like this:

Galli............
.................
Homalo........
.................
Raptor..........
..................
Raptor2.........
..................

Now, each of the dinosaurs' slots here consists of eight groups of four hex values. The footer starts immediately after the end of the last dinosaur's slot. So click (on your right column) just before the name of your last dinosaur (in this case, it would be right before Raptor2). Now look on the left column. Where the flickering indicator is on the left column marks the beginning of the hex values for the last dinosaur's slot. Count (to the right) eight groups of four hex values (32 total) and you should be at your footer. The footer goes from here to the end.

You mean the links to the Hex Editer and the Exporter? Those are tools that are needed to be able to make MSTs properly. You need a Hex Editer to make the actual changes to the code, and you need the other to extract the skin files as .bmps and to make sure that your MSTs work properly. The latter is simply for efficiency, but the first is required.

If you're asking where are the downloads, well...this is a tutorial. >_>

I'm sorry, but I'm really kindof hangover-y today, and I work better with diagrams and whatnot, so could you post a diagram of what you're talking about? Sorry, but I'm REALLY tired today.

Ok I didn't understand a thing. I've already read the other multiple skinning tuts but ERC's (the most understandable of all) tut's screenies have been erased, so that makes it almost IMPOSSIBLE for us newbies to multiple skin dinos, and I already know how to skin, but I want another skin for my deinonychus :C:

Well, I've been working on some TMLs again recently, and I realize that a lot of tutorials don't have pictures (and pictures were amazingly helpful to me). I'll try and get some screenshots of what I'm talking about up so that you guys can easily MST. =D

Could you post a simple sample, e.g. two raptor skins both has dead skins, so that we can understans how exactly it is done?

Just for whenever I decide to try this again.. Is there any explanation for black models? Like an entire digsite to come out with black models (even when I'm focusing on just one dino)? I followed this tutorial to a T and was pretty sure I had everything perfect, but it's discouraging to get black models every time.

Just wondering if there's something specific that causes this so I can correct it next time.
