For all users interested in making their own skins you can check the proper tutorial here:

If you want you can also extract the texture with that program, open it in photoshop, edit it, save as a DDS and then copy the hex from that DDS and replace the old one in file.

It's a shame more people aren't into modding this game. I'm sure someone with knowhow could create a program that would do this with little effort :(

yes, that's very, very true. I mean, even if we had to save the file as dds a program inserting the hex on the desired location shouldn't be too hard for someone with programming experience.

Exactly, it's just finding someone with that ability. And, not everyone has photoshop, being as it's a bought product. Which results in many people not being able to change skins at their own will. I'll try and see if i an find another way to convert the files. Y'see, i had a free converter before i was using photoshop, but i lost it, unfortunantly. If i could find it again on the web, more people could be able to do the process

hey guys. im finally getting into skinning [watch how ERC jumps for joy behind that PC screen. i bet she's thrilled to bits that i wont be bugging her anymore :P ]. However, i have a bit of a problem understanding what the tutorial means by "make a new file with the extension DDS and open it up with the HexEditor". how do i make the new file? as in use the New button INSIDE the Hex editor supplied in the link? or make a new folder or text document? or what?

create a new file -no matter the original extension- make sure it's blank and rename it to .dds, afterwards, paste the hex values into it through the hex editor.

ok....i've gone through the hex editor stage quite well. now onto Photoshop. i've finished the skin, but i need to know how to fix the teeth. how do i make them transparent? and is it possible to copy it out of one skin file, and paste it in another? [Crusher's teeth weren't top notch, and i thought that i'd take the CEP or Chaos Rexes' teeth and put them for Crusher...]. skinning went fine. i've done the skin almost exactly how i want it. i just need to know how to fix the teeth. TT's helping me with some of the other, smaller details, like scars...

Either you use the magic eraser tool or you work directly from the original dds.

Go on the channel window and delete the opacity one.

I never had that error. Are you sure you're using photoshop properly?

lol! No, DL i've had that error plenty of times. That's why i leave the teeth opacity to the end, otherwise it messes up

well, i've only just got it, and i haven't used it before. doing quite well though. i've learned how to use the magnetic lasso to highlight the bits i want to change, and did quite an intricate lassoing job blocking out certain patches within the recolour zone, so that i dont accidentally recolour them. now i think i must've touched the teeth when i was recolouring the arms of the rex, because now, when tested in game, it doesn't look right [usual green patch around the teeth]. now, is the opacity channel the Alpha channel? i have RGB, Red, Green, Blue, and Alpha 1. is it the Alpha 1 channel that i need to get rid of?
