Heres how to add Purchasable Fossil Sites using un-used logic.

1. Go To FslHunt.ini
2. Find this Line ( linkedtoset = 1; // Linked to an unlocking set )
3. Modify linkedtoset = 1 to linkedtoset = 0
4. Add a price value to Cost =

Done... Ingame you will be able to purchase the fossil site at any time once you open the park. you will receive a message like "This digsite can be brought, would you like to purchase Solnhofen Beds for $1000, You have $75,000 remaining" - or something on those lines

Note: Purchasable Fossil sites will not be available in Site B unless you have the welcome center buildable and open the park.


You might think Paying for Digsites is Stupid. BUT NO! Its all about game-play, adding a balanced realistic expansion and making use of un-used game logic (in my opinion) is the way forward.


a question i would like to ask is...

Does Terrain Quality have to be on HIGH to enable Dead Skins? Thus If Terrain Quality is unable to be set to HIGH then Multi-Skinning is Impossibile??

I think - because it´s something like a command or interaction- that something in constant.ini have to be changed also. I went through it looking for your digsite price connections and found something which is used for paying for hunting teams:
FossilHuntBuyTeamBaseCost = 0;
FossilHuntBuyTeamStepCost = 0;
FossilHuntBuyTeamDoublingCost = 5000;
FossilHuntBuyTeamHintTime = 20;

I´m quite sure that something like this is needed...
And a connection between the button to unlock a digsite and the buying command is needed too..

But i´ll keep lookin around for that stuff

YES MATE!! You inspired me to have a second look, Although its un-connected to what you suggested.

Yeah all's well n good, Definitely works. Now i am more inclined to make a Chinese Fossil Site to go with my European one

I got a save game... all digsites are already unlocked so there would be no changes right?

By the way did you know that scientists discovered marks in stone of dinos and humans together in your pretty german digsite Solnhofen? crazy he?

I Didnt know that..... Can you link a pic of this man-made evidence?

One little bug with this code, The Purchasable Digsite's will be un-available in Site B mode because of the whole "You need to open the park to unlock digsites" ... Probably why it was removed logic i guess but if you have the Welcome Center buildable in Site B mode i see no problems (Although i havnt got it buildable il just go with the idea that Site B only allows access to INGEN's hunting sites.)

The Game defiantly needs more dig-sites, i had another idea of adding dig-sites with no fossil remains but having the Gold = 200, and you pay to unlock them. Like a Mineral Deposit. however i can change in the eng file the wor Period: to Type: but i cannot add a new "Deposit" periodtype along with Jurassic and Cretaceous


heres what i got.

Solnhofen Bed's - European - Germany - Cost 10,000
Comsognathus 3*, Archaeopteryx 4*


I chose Germany for some of the uniquely detailed feathered dinosaurs fossils found ike Archaeopteryx in the Solnhofen Beds

(possible plans for two new digsites)

Junggar Basin/Shishugou Formation - Asia - China - Jurassic, Cost 15,000
Bellusaurus 4*, Guanlong 4*

Ulansuhai Formation - Asia - China - Creataceous, Cost 25,000(Rarer Feathered Dinos)
Linheraptor 5* , Sinornithomimus 5*

only annoying thing is, i can skin them all and have skins for the Solnhofen Dinos but cant get them in because my terrain detail wont set to high so the dead skins don't show up in game preventing me from
multi-skinning. (But this will be solved when i change over computers)

Intresting! Would it be possible to add digsite x and take reskinned models to a dinosx.tml and get these dinos out of it? like renaming a digsites tml and fill it with reskinned models?

ive had errors when ive tried that, Game Crashes, Best thing is to create create 7+ skins or change the dead skins, make them live and put Skin=2 in the ini

Nice work man! Too sad that youre focused on true skins and no reskinning of the film skins!

But if you will release a pack for new digsites with this kind of dinos in it i´ll download it! I´m still a fan of your german digsite cause its where I´m living...nearly...

BTW did you found more un-used logic in fslhunt? or anywhere else? It´s the best way to change gameplay!

I found out that if you use the pay for fossil sites, the game runs fine in Genesis mode - No Crashing, but in Site B it can cause crashes when you flip through dino's in the hatchery, But being a modder myself its not a problem or even very hard to change each new fossil site to "LinkedtoSet=1;" if i feel like playing Site B without crashes.

Im always looking for un-used logic but found nothing new that can be used yet. Ive been skinning lately but it can get so tiring, So am going to play around with the Dinovet, Hunting platforms, Constant Ini and Main.gui to see what i can find.

How you going? Any strange logic come to your attention?
