JPOG on Windows Vista

Unread postby The_Lost_World » Tue, 25th Dec 2007 18:08

I just got a new laptop with Windows Vista for Christmas. Zoo Tycoon 2 works fine, but when I installed JPOG (the installation went fine), only missions and exercises will work properly. I can't start a new island, or the game will crash. Also, the game won't let me adjust the sliders in the video options. You know, the ones that say "Brightness", "Contrast" etc. Does anybody have a way I can fix this?

One more thing: for some weird reason, the graphics look really strange on this computer. Check it out:

No, I haven't. Shall I try to run it in compatibility mode with Windows XP?

EDIT: I tried compatibility with Windows XP and Windows 98/ Me, and neither of them worked. Got any ideas?

Not really, since I don't use Vista... Try to contact DVRex on JPL, he may be able to help you, since he uses Vista, aswell.

I don't know, I really like the interface, it plays every other game I use, it's got tons of updates, and I haven't had any problems with modding. So far, I actually like it!

Funny story though: when we were opening our presents, I opened the laptop. It was a really pleasant surprise, because I didn't expect it. Then I say: "What's the operating system?" and my parents say: "Windows Vista." *OMINOUS MUSIC PLAYS* And of course, I was worried that it was going to be horrible and all, but it actually works fine.

Why does everybody say Vista's so bad? :?

That makes no sense... the laptop is newer than the other computer.

Mainly probably cause it doesn't allow pirated software and some people have had to change a few settings to mod on Vista and everything... XP lives on...

Impatient? WHat should they be waiting for? I don't think a piracy friendly Vista is going to be in stores any time soon...

No, I mean they're apparently too impatient too fix some minor problems, and would rather use an older system. It was just a joke, anyway.

It's just that laptops aren't meant to have good graphics and you can't change the video cards on them.

Your problem isn't a problem with the OS first of all. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say it's the graphics card. Post your machines specs, please.

I wouldn't have Vista, mainly because i like old skool gaming. Vista has next to 0 backwards compatbility. You install that, you'll never be able to run any 16 bit games at all, and not many 32 bit either

EDIT: OMG, i just realised why JPOG might not run on Vista. If you've got the 16 bit skins selected. Change it to 32.
