Problems with the Database

Unread postby Legion » Sat, 10th Nov 2007 12:06

Hello all.
As you know, on the last three days, Modding Genesis' database suffered a grave error which, basically, deleted all of the posts' information, forcing us to run on a backup from October 5th. I'm sorry for this, and I hope you all can comprehend that noone could have foretold this problem.
I tried, several times, to use a more recent restore point, but it seems that the most recent restore was already too recent to help save the data.

Well, at least THIS explains it...

And before I saw this topic, my thoughts were along the lines of "WTF where did everything since early October go?"

There go our more recent events... :(
I can see your hypocrisy.

Even if I don't bring it up.

Indeed, yet, it is not a total loss, like it could have been...

True... We should not look at how unlucky we have been for this to happen but how lucky we are it was not as catastrophic as it could have been... Look on the bright side! :)
Sweet, sweet memories.

Gah, it's a chaotic month for me... Games delayed, an earthquake, and now this!

Oh, it could have been worse...

Is this the reason for the missing RPG thread?

I guess so, oh well, at least the old site layout is back, I liked that one. But on the other hand, the RPG forum is messed up, one page missing from this RPG, some events missing from that RPG...

A whole month gone.

I suppose we've still got what updates we made to the GEP, well the downloads anyway. So, we shouldn't be set back too much on that.

I'd forgotten about the forum re-organisation. I bet that's a major blow to you, DL.

Still, we live on, and that's all that matters. ^-^

Well, now you know what a kid who just turned 11 worries about.

Well, if we actually knew that the GEP was actually near completion, we would feel sorrow for it. I do feel for you about the forum rearrangement, but at least with the old forums back I can actually find what I'm looking for. Oh, and I believe you need to give ML the mod status again...

True, but gotta dig through it...

Quite, but hey, if I did it once, I'll do it again.

So true. ^_^

That's why noone ever takes 11 year olds seriously.

How hard was it? I mean, every frekkin thing was frekkin spelled out what it was and what it did, MUCH more explicitly than this. Only problem was, when I finally got to write the guidelines for MOD submission, only ML listened and noone else lifted a finger, prefering to place their MODs on the MOD dev forum to save their sorry arses time, when that wasn't even the purpose of said forum. The layout worked, the people didn't.

Hey, maybe they knew that this was going to happen, and were smart and didn't lift their fingers because they knew it was for nothing. Then again, they may be just lazy or inactive.

I can't seem to find the JPOG airstrip forum. Was that lost in the month? I'm new by the way. :)

Actually, it's quite the opposite. It was buried in the forum because it was old, here's the JPOG Airstrip thread.
